Michigan Trip

Post by Dee »

We made our trip last Wednesday to my sister's in Michigan.
That evening we went to the DTE (sister works for DTE Energy) music theater to see Rod Stewart.
I thought I was little. He's as small, weightwise, as me.
What a fabulous performance he put on. Years ago he played soccer, so he is still kicking soccer balls out in the the audiences. The lawn & seating were packed, with standing room only left.
So, one of my dreams was fulfilled by my sister, Carla. I have always wanted to see him in person.
On the way home on Friday, we stopped at Whole Foods to pick up my milk, and the new coconut milk ice cream. I picked out the vanilla bean & chocolate.. It is so yummy!! Especially when I make my brownies to have with it.. A great treat....
They have the most fantastic fresh produce markets all around Michigan. Their prices are ridiculously low. Can't remember the name of the place, but will ask my sister.
I had broccoli, green beans. melons, sweet onions, bing cherries, peaches, necatarines, rommaine lettuce, sweet potatoes, celery, and my bill only came $22.00... Unbelievable.
I made a cobbler with the cherries and my oh my!!!!! Came up with a great way to pit those cherries.
I just took a drinking straw and after removing the stem from the cherry, I pushed the straw thru where the stem was and the pit popped out the other end of the cherry.. No cost in that kitchen gadget!!
Will be leaving for the :camping: campground tomorrow afternoon until the 1st of the week. Hoping some of my watermelons are ready for picking. Will give you the update when we return.
Take Care Everyone!!!!

Love

Wow! Rod Stewart! Now we're all jealous--at least all of us of a certain age!
Glad I read your shopping and cooking report after dinner, or I'd be running for a snack.
Hope you have some yummy home-grown watermelons.

I wonder if it was Westborne Market that you went to. I used to love to go there when I got the chance. I really miss all the fresh fruits & veggies I used to get there. But then, I really miss Michigan.
Hope you had fun camping.

The produce market is Randazzo's, in Michigan.

  Wayne!
Pictures were a hoot!!
Planted crimson sweet watermelons.
Those darn groundhogs better not have ate any of my watermelons.
When we left the campground a week and a half ago, I had 1 that looked real close to be ready to pick and about 8 other ones getting bigger by the day!!!
I'll give you a report when we get back next week!

"Scrummy" I like it (the word). It's "brillant".
