TEX and all

Post by JLH »

 GI's office called just now and said doctor is not familiar with the tests but that I might have celiac disease and that they would send me GF diet info. (The gal on the phone didn't realize I have my first appointment tomorrow!)

I said I think my test results show that I DO NOT have celiac but that I have been GF since June (right after I got my LC diagnosis from her.)

At least she read the report. LOL

The nurse at EL isn't there there this week. The woman who answered the phone at EL seemed like she knew a lot. She said my records shows that I do NOT possess a marker for celiac which is what I thought.

Hi Joan,

The lady at Enterolab is right. Your gene test results are:

HLA-DQB1 Molecular analysis, Allele 1 0301
HLA-DQB1 Molecular analysis, Allele 2 0603
Serologic equivalent: HLA-DQ 3,1 (Subtype 7,6). Predisposes to gluten sensitivity and MC, but not celiac.

While it's not impossible that you could be a celiac, based on your genes, it's very, very unlikely, (since you don't have a celiac gene).

It's a moot point, though, since you are obviously quite gluten sensitive, so the treatment is the same.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

Thanks. I just don't know what to say about this! :???: Maybe she was too busy to read it carefully. I just don't get it.

Should be an even more interesting first appointment than I had previously imagined. This makes me really apprehensive.
