PLEASE report RICE CHEX Reactions

Post by JLH »

To General Mills 1-800-328-1148

They would only take my own report. It would be VERY helpful for them to hear your report. The CS person seemed concerned and is sending my info to product development.

I really couldn't say positively what was causing my reactions but just that I stopped eating the Rice Chex because of info here.

I hope you have time, Tex. I read her your info and challenge from the bbs. Your report needs to come first hand, though

Thanks all.

Joan,

Here's my take on that issue, for better or for worse. They've already spent a bunch of money to reformulate Rice Chex. Since some people are affected, and others are happy campers, and in view of the limited ingredient list, the odds of their product development team discovering the actual cause for such erratic performance, and finding an acceptable solution, are slim, regardless of how much more money they throw into it. Since most users seem to be quite happy with the product, just as it is, IMO, the fewer complaints that General Mills receives, the better, because that way they may leave it on the market, as is. If they get enough complaints, they may feel pressured to withdraw the gluten-free claim, and then no one will benefit from it.

IOW, my advice is to eat it if you can, and avoid it if it adversely affects you, but personally, I'm not inclined to complain, simply because I don't believe that any benefit can be derived from it. Obviously, I could be all wet.

I haven't had any ill effects from eating the Rice Chex... I don't eat them every day, maybe a couple times a week.
The people on the celiac board are very happy that there is a mainstream cereal now that is GF and I haven't read any post that any of them or their children that are celiac have had a bad reaction to eating it.
Price wise, it sure beats paying $4-5 a box for GFcereals.
I can get Rice Chex for $2.48 a box.
