Newbies - there is hope!

Post by Becky »

First of all welcome to the newcomers. I'm glad you found this site. Let me tell you a bit of my story.
A little less than a year ago, I was a newbie. Totally confused and overwhelmed. I owe so much to this forum, to Tex, Shirley, Dee, Mars, Oma and others who had such words of encouragement and wisdom. I had many GI office visits. I tried Pepto, Welchol and Entocort (and something else but I can't remember what it was called) I had success with Entocort but it made my bp sky rocket and gave me chest pains. So, I decided to try to control my symptoms with diet alone. I went gf and df in May. It's just been the last couple of weeks that I'm starting to see great results. It took a long time, a lot of sacrifices from my regular eating habits BUT (not BUTT) I am so happy and so confident that getting the gluten out of my diet has been the key. I feel so much better. I'm not fearful of having "accidents". I have so much more energy and the brain fog is gone. I think I might be able to reintroduce some dairy slowly. I had a little lowfat string cheese on Friday without repercussions.
As you've probably figured out, the medical field is quick to throw prescriptions our way. (My friend who is an allergist has told me how pharmacutical companies reward doctors for those prescription referrals.) I just want to encourage you to try the diet method for healing yourself. There are so many ways to go gf without feeling like you're missing out. I love Trader Joes!
Anyway, blessings to all of you through this journey!
