tiredness and frequency urination at nite?
I'm just wondering is this part MC or a side a effect from a medication I'm taking for MC.
By 11p I'm ususally tired like I've been drugged. I'll have a regular day and all but around 11pm I'm truely truely tired. Before I was usually up late watch tv. But when I fall asleep around 11pm. A couple of hours after that I start to wake up every 2-3 hours to pee and around 2:30-3a I'm up and very hungry and with energy. It the oddest thing. It been happening all of last week. And I didn't know if that was something to do with the medication or part of MC.
Tami
medications for MC= lialda and prednisone.

Hi Tami,
I'm on Entocort, so not the same med as you, but I think it's a common side effect of most steroids to make you thirsty. Are you drinking more than usual before you go to bed? Keep in mind, too, that unfortunately fatigue goes along with almost all autoimmune illnesses, and if you're not absorbing many nutrients from your food, that could play into it.

Tami,
In addition to what Courtney said, if you are bloated as part of your MC symptoms, the expansion of your intestines will put extra pressure on your bladder. I always had that problem when I was reacting - I would be so bloated that my bladder would only have a fraction of it's normal capacity. Prednisone can disrupt your sleep patterns, but then, so can MC. And, as Courtney mentioned, MC can cause extreme fatigue.
I don't recall if you are experiencing D or not, but one thing to be aware of is that low potassium can cause extreme thirst and increased urination, (if it becomes serious enough, it can also cause confusion, uneven heart rate, extreme thirst, leg or foot cramps, muscle weakness or limp feeling, etc.). Low potassium is a common problem with chronic D, and potassium is usually the first electrolyte to become critically low, in a situation such as that. If you feel that potassium could an issue, eating a few bananas will usually resolve the probelm, but if it is seriously low, doctors often prescribe potassium pills.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

Hi Tami and ---a bit slow on the greetings --sorry
Anyway---I drink nothing after 7PM---and I might wake once during the night to *P*--BUT when I do wake at that point--I immediately head for the kitchen for a snack --like ice cream---a little cookie etc.
MY GP said that the heading for the *eats* indictates that I am in a stupor of *sleep-walking*!!!!!
I said--No way---I know where I am going and eating!
So then I guess I must be sleep walking to *P* also!!!
then he asked--*do U get up to eat if U DO NOT get up to *P*---and son-of-a-gun---I DONT!!!
Who knows-----as long as I dont walk out the door--
Barbara
