Light box to treat SAD
Has anyone used one or know someone who has? DD1# is on an SSRI and I'd like to get her off it. I might even be interested in one myself........

I don't know anything about the light box,but I do know quite a few people that go to a tanning bed for a few minutes a couple times a week and they say it helps them alot. Especially in the months of January and Feb. In CNY (central New york) the sunshine is limited and most people are at their jobs, starting in the dark and then leaving in the dark.
I'm interested to know everyone's imput on this though.

Hi Joan,
A couple of years ago, we had a discussion about light boxes that you might be interested in:

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
My friend has S.A.D. (seasonal affective disorder).
Did ya know you can buy daylight lightbulbs..I have them in my house and the light is so good !! i love them. They are quite expensive but what a huge difference they make. Its just like having daylight in the room at night time...
You can buy here!! probably other sites too...

When I sent her the article that named Zoloft as a possible cause she sent this reply from the article:
"The use of certain medications has been linked to a higher risk of collagenous colitis and lymphocytic colitis in some people, but this association is unproved."
I said fine but make sure you have all the disability insurance you can buy and be prepared for a wild ride.
She had said previously that nothing could be worse than not being able to get out of bed. I said oh, yes, it could. Not being able to get out of bed and having D.

Otte light is one I know. Would they work as well as a light box?
Do they work for regular old depression or just SAD?
