Rice milks

Post by Lucy »

My sister substituted WF's 365 Rice Milk for the soy milk that was a in a Connie Saros (sp) recipe for blackberry cobbler this evening. Other than the sea weed derivative, are their any problems with that rice milk for M-I's?

I know we've talked about this a dozen times or more, but now I can't remember, except know that Rice Dream is made using barley.

Pacific says right on the front that it's gluten-free, so she could use that next experiment, I hope. Are there any other M-I issues, other than the seaweed stuff that Polly and others have trouble with?

My b-i-l made us an "icy" out of orange juice (fortified with calcium, by the way! Ha!). He froze the OJ first, and then threw it into one of those little machines that makes it into the form of an iced drink. As I drank it, I was trying to think of another sweeter fruit juice to add to it. Thing that came to mind was cherry juice -- anyone think the two of em would go together?

Anyway, they are sooo cold to eat/drink in a/c, but sure would be nice if you were outdoors in the heat or just coming inside to cool off.

Sis thinks she's going to try the cobbler recipe with blueberries next time, and instead of rice milk, use the applejuice in place of soy milk -- the suggested substitution in the book.

Wow, bed is WAAAAY overdue.
Yours, Luce
