Another good restaurant experience

Post by jen051279 »

yesterday after having a Endoscopic Ultrasound down my husband took me to lunch. Some of my co-workers had told me about this restaurant called Pomodoro that is located in Corona, Ca (they have more locations in Ca and AZ you can google it if you want to find one). My co-worker said they had gluten-free pasta. When we got there I asked for a gluten free menu and the apologized and said they did not care gluten pasta anymore. Then she said if you want I will go over to the store and buy you gluten free pasta and make whatever you want. I figured wow this restaurant is going really out of the way. She left to get some unfortunately the store didn't have any in stock. She came back apologizing profusely. She said she wasn't positive what gluten free was and there was lots of organic but she didn't want to buy the wrong thing. I told her it was ok and changed my order to a chicken dish and she substituted the oat side with the best steamed broccoli I have ever had. After she put in my order she came back introduced herself as the manager and again apologized for not having the pasta for me and told me she was going to comp my meal. She also said she was going to go buy a few bags of the gluten free pasta and keep it in back incase they are ever asked again.

The food was excellent and it is rare to find an italian food place that will provide the gluten free pasta.

Most restaurants are barely accommodating with making their meals gluten free much less being willing to actually go to the grocery store to try and meet my needs. I don't know if all of the locations would do something like this but I know I will be returning to the restaurant and recommending it to all of my friends even those without gluten issues.
