Testing Boswellia for MC

Post by RUBYREDDOG »

I have decided to do a test of Boswellia for MC. After reading 5 test results of Boswellia for UC, ranging from 900-1200 mg of Boswellia gum, I am going to take 900 mg per day, (300 mg three times a day) for a total of six weeks.

The product is NSI-5-LOXIN-AKBA Boswellia Serrate Extract--150 mg per serving (75 mg per capsule) I will therefore take 12 capsules per day. This will yield 270 mg of Boswellia Sterate Extract (resin) per day. This seems like a lot considering that the recommended dose is 2 capsules per day.

I purchased the product from www.vitacost.com

I decided to use this product based on a review from a user, listed on the product web site. He used it for relief of symptoms of UC, And was impressed with its speed, stating that it only took 12 hours for it to work. Granted, this is not a very scientific or logical reason to chose one product over another but I feel it is a start.

I will probably wait until the first of the year to start this test. I have been on the diet only road to remission since June of this year. I feel that I am close to remission, and have been so for about 8 weeks. I just don't seem to be able to get over the hump, so to speak, so this test will hopefully be of some value to that end.

I will post my progress as soon as I start. I am also going to keep a diary of what I eat during the test.

Wish me luck, Hotrod

p.s. I also ordered more "CULTERELLE" probiotic. I have been taking it for 4 weeks and I feel it has helped me with gas, bloating and less stomach upset.

I see you bought the same stuff that I tried. If I recall correctly, they don't even say what that daily dosage is good for - it just says "as a dietary supplement", or something of that sort. I agree that the dose to treat an IBD is high, but remember that this is a natural substance, and those are relatively tiny capsules.

As far as your reason for picking that brand is concerned - what the heck? - it's as good a reason as any. LOL.

I hope you didn't buy a huge supply in advance, just in case remission arrives before the first of the year. (Wouldn't that be nice?)

Good luck.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

Tex, I was thinking along the same lines, so I bought a 3 week supply ($45.00) just in case I could not tolerate it for some reason. If I achieve good results in a few weeks I will probably still take it for the full 6 weeks however.

Have a pleasant weekend.....

Thankyou all, for your support.

I have several Christmas dinners and parties to attend so I am definitely waiting until the first of the year for my little experiment.

As far as the product is concerned, the vitcost web site claims it helps inhibit collagen degradation, supporting bone and joint health. Yet, the reviews talk about the pain relief they get from its use. Tex, I know you reported on the relief from back pain you obtained by using Boswellia. I'm fortunate not to have any severe back or joint pain. So we'll see.
