I am sorry it's been so long. Our house was finished in the middle of January, so we finally got moved and settled. We waited about a month for internet and cable. Sheesh! Anyways, I will eventually update myself on all of the posts that I have missed!

I have some good news..... since starting the D and being diagnosed in July of last year, I have followed the advice from the lovely, caring people on this site who dedicate so much of their time helping others. I am not 100 % cured, but I feel like I am at about 80% there. Since moving in January, I finally got organized and paid alot of attention to my diet. I have lost 30 pounds (needed to) and started taking pilates and kickboxing and Zumba classes, like I used to about two to three years ago. And I feel great! I have eliminated all processed foods and I eat very small amounts at a time. I snack on gluten-free cereal. I don't think I have made it 100% gluten-free, but the changes that I have made so far have made a significant difference. I do sometimes have the "D", maybe once or twice a week if I eat alot of salad or fruit, but it's not lasting all day long. I feel like I have a lot more control and am almost having normal BM's.

So, I just wanted to say to the new people: It has taken me 9 months of misery, tears, sore fanny, not being able to go anywhere. I am not a patient person either!!! It is not easy, but everyone here understands and really know alot ideas that are so helpful.

I can't wait to catch up on all that I have missed! I hope everyone is doing well.

That's terrific news, Barb! It sounds like you've really taken control of your diet. I'm impressed with your exercise routine and the 30 lb. weight loss. Congratulations!

I hope now that you are settled in your new home, you'll be able to enjoy the beautiful spring.

Hey Barb,

It's great to see an update on how your life is going, and especially the good news about the improvement in your symptoms. It sounds as though you're getting close to the "good as new" point, and that's definitely nice to hear.

I think that most of us have trouble with lettuce, (until our gut heals), which makes salads a problem. Also, the fiber in fruit is a problem until we heal, (removing the peel helps a lot, since it contains most of the fiber). I reacted so badly to lettuce, that I still haven't gotten back in the habit of eating it regularly, though it doesn't bother me, now.

I'll bet that moving was a little tricky, considering the weather in NY, that time of year, but I'm sure it's nice to finally be settled in, with the stress of moving behind you.

Congrats on all the new exercise activities, and weight loss. You've really become proactive. Good for you. I hope you continue to feel better and better.
