Hmmmmmmm. That's probably the tip of the iceberg. You know darn well that most cases probably go undetected, (unreported).

Something is going on around here, (in Central Texas). All of a sudden, there appears to be an epidemic of older patients, (mostly from assisted-living facilities, rest homes, etc. - IOW, in places where infection is easily spread), in this area, being transported to hospitals with pneumonia, or suspected pneumonia. This bears watching, closely.

Thanks for posting that.

Love,
Tex

Then I'm glad I did.
Please let us know if you find out any more about this, Tex.

I'm wondering if this is what my husband has. He is better but still coughing a lot. The doctor he saw this week said it was classic flu but didn't do any tests, he just put him on Erythromycin. It hasn't helped yet.

I heard on the news, while making a delivery this afternoon, that Mexico has closed down some public places, because of an "epidemic" of swine flu cases. I kind of suspected that Mexico might be the link, when I noticed where the Texas and California victims lived, (areas with a high percentage of relatives who live in Mexico), but I didn't want to be accused of making claims based on ethnic generalizations, so I held my tongue. Now that it's on the news, though, I'm pretty sure that the Texas and California cases will be shown to have a common link, (Mexico). For example, they might have been visited by relatives who were visiting Texas or California without the benefit of legal documentation, so naturally, such contact would be denied, and could be the reason why no one can figure out a possible link.

Note that our government, (in it's infinite wisdom), has issued no travel restrictions because of this outbreak. That means this strain will sweep around the world in a matter of days/weeks. We are seeing a major flu pandemic unfold before our very eyes - the first in many years.

Hopefully, some of us who had the "Asian" flu, in the 1950s, or the "Hong Kong" flu, in the 1970s, may have some degree of resistance to this new strain that has been developed from old strains, but there are never any guarantees, regarding virulent strains of the flu.

Don't forget to take your vitamin D.

I believe I'm going to double my dose. I haven't been taking the high doses that some of you are.
