I've been on the Entocort for 2 weeks now and GF, DF, SF, CF, for almost 6 months and EF for about a month ( Dr said it will take about 3 months to clear all the egg antibodies ). Just yesterday I started to see major improvement, not Norman but almost Norman yesterday and today. I have already been 4 times today so I think that is too much but I am happy that the consistency has changed so much. I know the Entocort is a major player here but I also think diet is most important.
I think the egg antibody thing is interesting because Enterolab said egg was ok. Recent IgG tests said no to eggs and garlic. Enterolab did have a disclaimer that said something about the fact that even though the test did not show antibodies that I should avoid egg for a year. And the IgG test showed only egg and garlic and everything else was ok. I do know that I am better. I took Entocort before and it only helped a little. I wasn't following the diet either!

P.S. I think that I also discovered that I cannot eat fat despite the Drs all saying that I am not malabsorbing. I quit eating fat Tuesday and that could be another major factor as to why I suddenly got better!
Starting to see improvement

Pat,
That's great news! Good for you.
Enterolab only tests for the major protein in the egg albumen. The albumen contains other proteins, and the yoke also contains other proteins, so that's why they say that it's possible to get a false negative test. Presumably they test for the protein that's most likely to cause problems.
I think that it is generally true that most people who are experiencing diarrhea, have a fat malabsorption problem, at least to some degree. Also, if you didn't have a fat malabsorption problem, it shouldn't have been so difficult to gain weight.
I find it interesting that as powerful as Entocort is, for many of us, it just won't do the job, without the help of a strict diet. The evidence continues to grow, that for the most severe cases, at least, diet control is a vital part of a successful treatment program.
Thanks for the update, and I hope that you are truly at the point where success is right around the corner. You have certainly earned complete remission.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
