I'm baaaaaaaaaaaack ... thanks to orange juice, I think
After almost a year of "Mona Lisas", I thought I had this MC thing licked, controlling it only by diet. Last month, I bought a different brand of calcium-fortified orange juice for my 9-yr old celiac, sensitive tummy son that he said gave him a stomach ache. So, instead of pouring the 6 quarts that I had purchased of it down the drain, I drank a delicious 16-oz glass of it every day for weeks and skipped my calcium supplement when doing so. I was beginning to think my gut was invincible. Not a good idea. Now, I'm back to where I was when I joined this group. Just thought I'd say "hi" to all the other "Potty People" out there. I wonder how long it will take me to get my gut of steel back. I do miss it.
Hi,
Sorry to hear that you've encountered such a problem, but we appreciate your telling us about it. Hopefully, it won't take long for your remission to return.
When I "challenged" myself with pure oats, a couple of years ago, (after reading all the articles written by "experts" about how pure oats are safe for celiacs to eat), it took me roughly 6 weeks before the D started, but then it took another 6 weeks for the D to stop, after I stopped eating the oats, (IOW, it took about as long to heal, as it took to create the damage).
One quick question, if you don't mind - did you originally achieve remission by diet alone, or did you use a combination of diet and a med?
Please keep us informed on your progress. We appreciate your input, because we learn a lot from such shared information, and we hope that your "gut of steel" will be back sooner, rather than later.
Thanks for the information.
Tex

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
Remission on diet alone
Hi, Tex,
I've never taken any MC meds. I've just made many diet mods.
I saw Norman yesterday evening (after being in the car for 3 hours), but he is very gone again today.
Here's hoping for a quick return to my pre-OJ days!
Take care,
Mary

Hi Mary,
Good for you, for making the diet work. It sounds as though lasting success may be right around the corner.
Thanks for the update.
