Joan - On Your One Year Anniversary
Hi Joan,
I saw your post on another thread, about this being your one year anniversary with this board. Congratulations! Time flies doesn't it. I assume that the system will give you your gold star, tomorrow.
After a full year on the diet, without remission, unless you can see some definite signs of improvement, it may be time to reassess the situation. Is there any possible way that you could be ingesting trace amounts of gluten? Have you given any thought to a course of Entocort, to "kick start" remission, and then tapering the dose down, ASAP?
I'm not fond of recommending meds, but I sure hate to see you continuing to have to deal with the symptoms, day after day. Even if I were to develop Alzheimer's some day, I will never forget what it's like to wake up every morning, feeling as though I had been hit by a train, and constantly running for the bathroom, and hoping that I can get there in time.
Do you have any thoughts on what could be keeping you from remission?
Tex

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
No, but I sure wish I did. I'm hoping it's irritants and not intolerances. My gut makes weird protesting sounds. More d lately...I'd been doing really well.
I really do not think I'm eating anything with gluten. I just hope it isn't corn or eggs that's the problem.
I thought about Entocort but I'm afraid of it because of the other PP's bad experiences.
I look forward to seeing my lovely gold star.

Thanks very much, Barbara.
Did you ever get the PM I sent about my M-I-L growing up in Fall River? I think she went to BMC Durfee HS. She also taught school there, I think. Her last name was Brotkin and she had a bunch of siblings.

Happy Anniversary, Joan!
I'm sorry to read that you're having problems. I wonder if you're eating fresh fruits now that the season is coming upon us. I've been looking forward to the season, but alas, I suspect that fruit, both fresh and canned, is another one of my problems.

You never know what you can do until you have to do it.
Thanks. I even happened to wear my PP tee shirt today to mark the occasion!
No, I'm not eating any fresh fruit. The only fruit I eat is applesauce and only about a half cup of it. I do eat frozen strawberry fruit bars. No fresh veggies either.
Our little town just went uptown with the opening of a gelato shop. Luckily, they sell sorbetto, too. Yea.
